Listen To The Things Narcissists Say

They say you can learn more about a person from listening more than speaking — and this is very true when dealing with a narcissist.

Many of us get so wrapped up in ‘how a narc says something‘ that we completely ignore the things narcissists say.

So, what do I mean?

Well, let me put it like this…

The things that narcissist yell at you about or complain to you about are things they are scared you will do. Click To Tweet

Let me repeat that (and I will explain even further)!

The things that narcissist yell at you about or complain to you about are things they are scared you will do.

Understand that you are NOT dealing with a person who has any emotional control.

These people are kidults, and I say this NOT as a denigration of who they are, but as a revelatory truth that has struck me from dealing with these people for so long.

It’s not how a person says something; it’s what they are saying that you should listen to.

Don’t be emotional like a narc because that is when they start to pull you into their insanity.

Things Narcissists Say To Keep You Around

Narcissists, like the kidults they are, are terrified of being left or discarded. To them, because so many of them value their worth by how others treat them, they would see this as them not being valuable.

And this hurts their fragile small little egos.

So some of the weird things narcissists say to keep you in their WORTHLESS LIVES are:

“Go ahead and leave me! No one will want you!”

“You’re getting fat. Aren’t you chubby? (all the while they may weigh more than you.)

“That cashier keeps giving me the freaky eye.”

“What? What? You think you better than me!”

“NO ONE LEAVES MEEEEEEE!!!! (Foam coming out their mouth!)

These are just a few examples of things narcissists say. There are many more of their wacky, wacky crazy sayings.

All of which makes sense to no one, BUT THEM!

But let me break these down to show you what they really mean — so that you can get the gist of their thinking.

Common Things Narcissists Say

“Go ahead and leave me! No one will want you!”

Translation:

“I know you will leave once you see what I am once my mask slips. I don’t want to be discarded because I will feel like nothing. So, I will try and convince you to stay by telling you to leave. Reverse psychology. I’m a JEAN-YUS! And by me telling you no one will want you, then you have to believe this. It all lines up so perfectly. You will have to believe this.”

“You’re getting fat. Aren’t you chubby?

Translation:

I have to make you think you are not good enough! If you see your worth, then you will leave me. I am happy you are getting fat because no guys will look at you so much. And when you are fit I will say you need to eat more; you look sickly. I got this BRILLIANT plan from listening to the 9th and 10th-grade girls. I’m a JEAN-YUS!”

“That cashier keeps giving me the freaky eye.”

Translation:

“See? See? I am valuable. See? The cashier looked at me. They gave me the freaky eye. See? See? I can have anyone. See? See? Look it! Look it! I am desirable! LOOK IT!!!!!!!!

“What? What? You think you better than me!”

Translation:

I think this video says everything you will need to know!

The louder and more irrational these FOOLS are, the easier it is to recruit others around them, such as flying monkeys.

“NO ONE LEAVES MEEEEEEE!!!!

Translation:

“You hurt me by leaving me! Now, I am going to hurt you!”

Narcs Say The Darndest Things

Narcs will say some hurtful things — but know that they say mean things because they are scared you will leave them, and they are even more afraid that you will see your worth.

They devalue us because they don’t want us to see our value. They gossip and try and destroy our image because they are scared others may like us.

Narcissistic people are losers who will say anything to try and get into our heads.

Know this, what they say to us is how they feel about themselves.

It is “projections,” and we do not need to be the screen or wall for them to shine their weak selves on.

Walk away from anyone who talks badly to you.

Struggling With C-PTSD?

I often say that living with a narcissist is like living in a war zone! This comparison may very well seem hyperbolic, but research has shown that living around narcissists can have the same effects on a person’s mind as people living in a war zone!

I wrote an article describing the “10+ Mental Illnesses Caused By Staying With Narcissists“.

These people are monsters, plain and simple.

If you are struggling with emotional flashbacks, dealing with mental and emotional battles that NO ONE but yourself seems to see and feel, and if you find it hard to get out of bed every day, you may be dealing with C-PTSD.

As great as support groups may be, or as profound as articles can be, they are no substitute for professional help.

Sometimes the best way to heal and move forward is with therapy.

Speaking with someone and getting the hurt off your chest is a great way to unload.
