Pick Yourself Up!
“Persist. Even when you’re heavy with emotion, pick yourself up — bringing the axe of your actions down, repeatedly chopping at the day until you bring the sun low with success.”― Curtis Tyrone Jones
Nothing shows the person who kicked you down in life how weak and unimportant they are then but for you to pick yourself up and keep moving forward!
Shame is a weight that puts the weight of the heavens on Atlas shoulder’s to…well…shame!
It’s difficult picking oneself up after staying with a narc for any considerable amount of time.
The months that we sacrificed, the years that we sacrificed, the…decades that we sacrificed can, once after leaving the narc, become an unbearable weight on our minds and hearts.
To lose so much in life for someone who gave us absolutely nothing is excruciating.
The weight of shame for putting up with them for so long can be the most difficult thing to overcome!
Shame keeps us down. Shame keeps us hurt. And shame keeps us from moving on in life.
BUT…YOU MUST PICK YOURSELF UP!
Pick Yourself Up! Don’t Let Them Rob You Of Life
I often write about how we get one life.
Regardless if you believe in an afterlife, we get ONE HUMAN LIFE EXPERIENCE!
It is a given in life that you will have hard times; no matter who you are, LIFE IS NOT FAIR!
And for many of us who have taken off the red-tinted glasses (unlike the Enabling Ed(s)) and see the narcissist and the world for what it is, it is like waking up into a NIGHTMARE!
The crippling feeling of fear (not wanting to trust anyone), to the blinding furious burning rage we feel for losing so much time, life, and most of all ourselves is akin to the flames that one will find in Hell, to the sudden realization that the person we loved…didn’t even exist — can make living and moving on in life to seem like a pipe dream.
It is not easy picking yourself up, but consider this!
By not picking yourself up after the narcissist and their legion of fools (the flying monkeys) kicked you down, what you do is:
- Show them they have the POWER to destroy a life
- Allow any dreams that have been given to you to die with you because you allowed the shame to keep you bound down
- Waste whatever remaining time you have (there are NO UNLIMITED TOMORROWS) living in depression
- Show the flying monkeys that their narc master is powerful and can destroy anyone’s life who crosses them
- Let down your family, your friends…AND YOURSELF
Giving up on yourself, letting the shame beat, and keep you down will haunt you in your very last moment!
It’s Not Easy Picking Yourself Up BUT D*MNIT…It Sure As Hell Is Worth The Struggle
You have to get to this point in your life, your ONE LIFE, where you say “enough is enough.”
Where you say to yourself, “I will no longer allow this person/ these people to dictate my life LONG AFTER THEY HAVE LEFT MY LIFE.”
“I decide how I live my life. I decide my happiness in life. And that I decide to be a hero and NOT A VICTIM.”
“That the hard times, the narcissist placed on my shoulders did not weaken me…but strengthen me. That it made me stronger. The irrational acts of abuse made me wiser. And that all their hatred towards me gave me a sense of self-love that I never knew I had within but not for their irrational and unjust hatred for me.“
“No matter how much they may hate me and work day and night to destroy me…I am strong enough to bear all the hatred because, like Atlas, I can bear the weight of the world on my shoulders.“
Don’t let these people destroy your life, kill your dreams, steal your happiness, and dictate how you live your life.
YOU ARE SO MUCH BETTER THAN THAT…AND ‘YOU’ HAVE TO START SEEING THAT.
Nobody but you can save you from the hell you are living through because of the narc.
It Is Possible To Move On…Don’t Let Pain Cripple You
“If you want a thing bad enough to go out and fight for it, to work day and night for it, to give up your time, your peace and your sleep for it — if all that you dream and scheme is about it, and life seems useless and worthless without it — if you gladly sweat for it and fret for it and plan for it and lose all your terror of the opposition for it — if you simply go after that thing you want with all of your capacity, strength and sagacity, faith, hope and confidence, and stern pertinacity — if neither cold, poverty, famine, nor gout, sickness nor pain, of body and brain, can keep you away from the thing that you want…if dogged and grim you beseech and beset it, with the help of God, you will get it!” —Les Brown
